Re: Good Morning

Good evening all.  Not feeling too great my third bad night in a row.  My sinuses are full up and I'm very heady. We tackled the sun lounge today, I've got a car load to take to the tip.  I found a box of books in the garage, the box was wet and contained my favourite cook books which I thought were safe in the sun lounge.  All  now in the car going to the tip tomorrow.. The sun lounge is now clear. We went out for  a pub lunch. The fish and chips were gorgeous. I couldn't finish so Brodie polished off the fish I couldn't eat.  I've decided now is the time to self isolate. Like many I am in the high risk group and if I'm honest I don't think I'm going to survive. I will consider myself very lucky if I do. My lungs do not work very well. I'm doing all I can to support my immune system. Gordon has already put his foot down and said that if I become ill, he is moving in to look after me no arguments! We sink or swim together.  I hope that when the virus has done with this country we are all still posting.

Re: Good Morning

Hello everyone.

An early start as I went to weigh in then on the way home did the food shopping. Grabbed a quick sandwich then out to Memory Cafe this afternoon. So all go. Just got home and was having a cup of tea when I saw the mention here about an announcement so switched the tv on and watched that. It sounded quite balanced although will obviously get a lot more serious.

We've had lovely sunny spells here then enormous downpours with hail.

Its not good for vulnerable groups Annie. They were saying on tv that if we self isolate now we'd be totally fed up with it (to say the least!!) by the time scale that we need to isolate for!!!!!!

Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all. had a brilliant night's sleep and feeling much brighter.  My new freezer arrives this afternoon. I've just got to mop the floor and I ready to go.  We were going to the tip but Gordon's neck is too bad so I'm having yet another day in . Being an only child it doesn't bother me at all. I've got plenty of things I can do. Going to have a look around Iceland's web site and plan my order for fruit and veg. Then again I could consider ordering from Asda or Tesco. It certainly will be nice to have frozen fruit and veg and a bit of meat.  and space to put home made ready meals away. Have a good day all.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

My heating engineer came today and washed his hands before he did anything, and then he took a clean new mask out of his pocket. So they are taking things seriously. He will be the last person that I have in my home now I am self isolating.

I registered with Pharmacy2U yesterday so now all my meds will come direct to me by royal mail on the 20th of each month. If anyone rings my door bell they'll just have to shout through the door.

I would prefer if the Government stopped all flights into the country from Iran and Italy as they're still not checking people as they arrive. For once Trump is switched on and stopped flights in to the US from Europe and other infected countries. I think really the Gov should have made some sort of effort for a partial lockdown, they're leaving it a bit late. A friends son who works on the ebola virus in a lab in Norfolk has a friend in the next lab who's working on Coronavirus and the friend has said we've missed the bus where a lockdown is concerned, as there's no way it can be contained now. Which is what I feared. So maybe that's why the Gov haven't done it.

My friend in Rome says the number of new cases has dropped dramatically since they went into lockdown, I think people would probably NOT get fed upstaying at home for a couple of weeks or a month, it's better than not stayin home and getting the virus and spreading it around.

It wont make much difference to my life, I live in self isolation practically anyway, and I have most of my friends online, well all of them really. And I will be kept busy in the garden and online, and probably with my craft hobbies. So my routine won't change at all.

My little freezer came the day before yesterday, its a cracker. I've got in the hall and it's like a piece of furniture being black. And if the electric should go off for any reason, it will keep the food frozen for up to 30hours. I noticed most of the new freezers keep the food frozen for 12hr and some 24hrs so I was pleased this one kept frozen longer. It's a Candy 98L and I got it from ao.com  Its full right up now, not room for another chicken thigh or bag of roasties lol

Then yesteday Asda brought my rather large survival order which was mostly fruit and veg, meat like mince for lasagnes etc, belly pork slices, stewing steak and lots of chicken thighs. I also had 4 loaves of Hovis wholemeal as I like that, but once that is used up I will bake my own bread. I've got the flour and dried yeast ready. The fridge has almost a shelf full of UHT semiskimmed milk, mainly because I've nowhere else to put it, and I enough tinned food to last ages, soups, tinned meat, fruit veg etc and dried products like instant mash, dried milk, dried seasonings, etc. Loads of teabags and coffee. Sunflower oi which I rarely use anyway. 3 doz eggs in the fridge, as they will keep up to 4months (when I worked in an egg factory I learnt that eggs will keep up to 5 months max if chilled.  The cat and dogs have enough food for 6 months and Gizmo's meds come via royal mail. I also have lots of antibac wipes and cleaning clothes, toilet rolls, puppy pads, anti bac soap, hand cream , shampoo, paracetamol, panty liners, you name it. So I have no need to go out for anything now.

I've been prepping for emergencies most of my life, so I already had a head start, but it's still cost a fortune when you consider the cost of the freezer.

Carol I got all my frozen food from Asda as they were cheaper and good quality, I did look on Iceland's website but they couldn't compete with Asda.

I'm wondering whether to cancel my ultrasound scan next week at the hospital, they are cancelling non urgent appointments, which mine is, so hopefully I'm doing the best thing if I cancel.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

Its dry but cloudy here.

Just heard that Maya and Lola wont be coming over this weekend as Shelley is in panic mode about the virus and doesn't want them going anywhere. Paul is heading over to see them and he'll call in and see us later on.

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon ladies.

Hope you're all good.

My heating engineer came yesterday and after he was indoor and after he'd washed his hands he told me he'd been to the doctors wednesday, he has the same surgery as me as he only lives locally. He's asthmatic, and was a bit concerned as he'd had an iriitating cough for a few days and had difficulty breathing, so the doctor took his temp and listened to his chest and said it was probably just a cold, so gave him some antibiotics and steroid tablets. He said he feels a lot better already and his breathing is a lot better and he's not so breathless.

Knowing how useless our doctors are and the blunders they make on a regular basis, I'm now worried sick incase he is infected and passed it onto me. I did a good clean with antibac santisier spray when he left of all the surfaces  I thought he may have touched but obvioiusly being in such a small bungalow we weren't 2 metres away from each other at times.  The new directives are to stay home for 7 days if you have symptoms like his, and although he probably did the right thing going to the doctors he definately hasnt' stayed home. He was saying he relies on people being upfront if they're in quarantine when they ask for an engineer, because the company wouldnt let them attend the property.  Thankfully he didnt cough while he was here.

So now the next 14 days I'll be looking for symptoms of CV. pffft....

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

It was brighter when I first got up so got the washing machine ready and now its raining.

I've passed over the Easter stuff yesterday and said they can have them whenever - they'll know they are meant for Easter. I also heard that as well      as going the park, Maya went swimming yesterday, so making me extra cross about they 'they aren't allowed out anywhere' when it means they aren't allowed here. Hey ho. That's the way she wants it and I can't change anything.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone. Miserable here weatherwise. My rhubarb crowns are now throwing up stems so need planting pronto, it's supposed to brighten up this afternoon so I will make the effort to go and plant them.

Still feeling ok, touch wood, hopefully the doc was right about the engineer, although it's only 2 days since he was here.  I'll feel better in myself once the quarantine period is over and I'm still ok.

Heard on the news this morning over 70's are to stay in for 4mths, but I think anyone with health issues over 60 should be included in that group.

It's hard to imagine this is our world now, and nothing will ever be the same again, talking to my Twitter friends who are all over the world, they are all terrified, but at least their governments are actually doing something whereas our stupid lot are doing the total opposite and telling us we'll get herd immunity in time. Well sall the scientists are screaming out that that doesnt work unless part of the population have been vaccinated which it won't be as there is no vaccine. I think the 2 health advisors to the government should be sacked! It's more like survival of the fittest and culling the old and infirm. Disgraceful.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

Its a lovely sunny day here but very chilly out .  There was a frost earlier I saw.

We'll be off to Short Mat Bowls this afternoon. Might as well make the most of getting out when we can while we can.
