Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

Its dry and sunnyish here today.

I've got some more washing and a walk for later.

My dried yeast was missing from the shop yesterday. Sainsburys don't have any in to order either. I was wanting to do some saffron buns with in date yeast. I've got some fresh saffron, some fresh wholemeal strong flour (can't get strong flour for love or money) - who is eating all this bread?????

Re: Good Morning

Are you allowed to send clothes back that are unsuitable?? I haven't ordered any clothes online since this started. Mind you. I've got enough with what I've got wearing basic stuff each day.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning all, a lovely sunny but chilly morning. We were going to do Brodie this morning but I asked my vet for advice on how to give pills, he'll need three cos he's a feisty little boy when he feels like it. Including waiting time for this, it would be lunch and digestion time for his nibs who is diabetic.  We've decided to delay to Sunday and get up early. Yesterday afternoon without me saying anything Gordon took himself off to the kitchen and did half the washing up. He also cooked our evening meal. This morning without me saying anything he offered to cook tonight. Bless him.
Diane after spraying and quarantining for 5 days I glove up and open parcel and measure items for fit. If OK it will go straight in the washing machine with biological washing powder. I'm not taking any chances.

Re: Good Morning

Evening all. I read today that the R factor is going up, If it goes over 1 we will be in lockdown again. I'm fairly certain that the 2nd wave of the virus will soon be with us. People are not maintaining social distancing. Our Tesco delivery was on time, I noticed that the driver wasn't wearing a mask or gloves, apparently, he didn't have any.  Had a disaster this afternoon Gordon had put a load of washing on and the machine had stopped working and was full of water.  Fortunately, I had the instruction book nearby and discovered that the machine had to be drained. It was easy enough to pull the small narrow hose out but it could have been a bit longer. It took me over an hour to empty it I was sitting on a low stool and had to bend at the waist to hold the tube, when I got up I couldn't straighten. It appears the load was too small and the machine was off balance.  I added some more washing and the machine was OK.
Sally, I'm so sorry to hear the bad news re your sister's m.i.l. It's nothing but bad news lately a friend of mine lost her husband last night. Terry was a good age, and they'd been married for over 60 years. Take care all and stay safe.

Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all, It's Brodie shearing day.  He's had the first tablet with no effect so have just given no 2. If he's still not sleepy he gets the third and final one. After another half hour battle will commence! I haven't got any suitable muzzles so may have to use a bandage to muzzle him.  I'm not aiming to finish it today, I'll just do what is safe.

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon ladies. It's beautiful here, only a slight breeze and there is a lot of warmth in the sun.

Good luck Carol with Brodie. Won't a muzzle/bandage stress him out more? Mojo didn't like having his claws cut but holding his collar at the back of his head to stop him swinging round and biting worked, he was a big powerful dog with big teeth, it was scarey but worked for him. If you put a muzzle on him he'd be like something possessed.

I used to muzzle Gizmo with one of those soft fabric muzzles, but it made him so stressed out he was better without it.  I heard from the groomer last week, she's starting up again after the lockdown was eased, so I'm not sure whether to take him back to her or continue doing it myself. He seemed very good last time, and I was dreading it. She gave me some tips, like switching the clippers on away from him and then running my hand down from his neck to his bum when I wanted to do around that area. She said I'd never do his legs with the clippers as she had to use scissords, but he was good and just stood there and let me do it, until I got near his dodgy front foot where a vet ripped his claw out once without aneasthetic. But that's excusable cos he was scared I was going to do the same thing.

I put my last wigwam up yesterday for the second lot of runner beans. Sowed them together with some other veg and flower seeds and they're all now under the coldframe. The lettuces are growing really well in the asda crates lol Won't be long before some of those are ready to eat.

I'm sorting out Heather's Grove this week coming, we have about 20 trees now towards it, from her Twitter friends, we're getting the grove from Trees for Life in Scotland. You can visit the grove anytime and also you get a webpage where people can see the grove and buy more trees if they want. It's a great idea, I'd quite like that when I pop my clogs not that I'm planning on doing that for a few more years lol

Enjoy your day folks and stay safe! x

Re: Good Morning

Happy to say that the third pill seemed to work.  Brodie didn't like being put on the table and the clipper couldn't cope with his coat so used my tailoring shears and just chomped bits off. I managed to do 2/3 of him before he'd had enough. It's very rough but when we do part 2 I can neaten it up.  Overall he was very good and didn't try to bite me at all so no need to muzzle him. He's now blissfully asleep on his day bed. My little man's had a hard day.
