Good morning everyone.
Flu jab day today
Offline
Hope you feel better soon Starry.
We had our flu jabs at Boots. The doctors had said to phone last week and I was unable to do that the first few days then I remembered at night time and checked at Boots online and was able to book the jab with a huge choice of dates and times the following week - which is what I did. We were given a half an hour slot for both of us so there is no queue or bumping into anyone else. I've never seen the chemist so quiet - or so clean.

Morning all,
Just watched the Corona Virus Update on BBC1, very informative for a change. But very daunting. People won't take any notice, they'll still ignore social distancing and wearing masks, and still go to the pub and mingle in large crowds.
As long as we all each take the best precautions thats all we can do. I've been taking supplements to boost my immune system, Super Strength Vitamin D3 and Vitamin C plus Zinc. So with wearing my mask and staying away from anywhere there are other people, I can't do anymore. I haven't been in a supermarket since January and only been to the chemist once and the doctors once for my flu jab so not much chance of me catching it thank God.
oooh new car Starry? What is it? I love getting a new car, I'm over the moon with mine, it's got a lot of gadgets on and mostly electronic stuff on the info panel, but if I get a text on my phone it comes up on the info panel asking if I want to read it or save it, and does all sorts of other clever stuff. I love the car so much, I think it's because it's similar to a classic mini in size and drive. It will probably be the last car I buy, although I did say that about the last 2 LOL
I spent yesterday afternoon doing the lawn edges so now all I have to do is dig the borders and mix in my homemade compost. And in November when the new plants arrive plant them in the borders. The heathers were out the back and outgrown their positions so they're now out the front and can spread out more. The hotbins are both full and belching out steam at 75C. So the compost in them will be ready in 4 weeks. I hadn't done much to the front garden, it was just lawn (mostly weeds than grass) since I've lived here, as I'd been concentrating on the back garden more. But finally took the plunge and started work on it.
I've chosen and ordered the plants for the front garden, there's already some planted, rosemary hedge between me and next door, then heathers and a couple of hebe and rhodedendrons. I've ordered hardy geraniums for the long border against the fence at the end, and forget me nots and dianthus to go inbetween the heathers. And where it never gets any sun there are ferns and foxgloves.
Here's some pics. First one is the plants I've ordered. The colour scheme for the garden as a whole is purple, lilac, white, and pink. The daffodils and tulips were free gifts with the plant order, but I can make use of them as they'll flower when the other perennial plants aren't flowering. Although most of the plants will start flowering in April and continue on until October/November. I've also got a Stags Horn Tree (Sumac) the non-invasive one, which will be going to the side of the birch that's there now. The autumn colour of its leaves will be beautiful and tone in with the gold and yellow leaves of the hydrangeas as they die back for winter.

Afternoon all.
Yep hoarding has started already, my fortnightly asda delivery is due tomorrow, its usually quite biggish as its for 2 weeks but I've not gone overboard just because of the latest Covid news. I've still got some toilet rolls from last time, but thats only cos they were on special offer so bought a bulk pack. lol
Starry, the Ford Puma is a super car. My last 3 cars were all black, surprisingly it doesnt really show the dirt.
Neither does the one I have now, I never liked silver cars, but quite like this one.
Our surgery won't see anyone they're petrified of catching Covid. All regular checks like diabetes and the like are on hold. There will be a lot of people becoming worse because of this behaviour by the surgery. They did do the flu jabs, but not a doctor in sight, their cars weren't even in the car park, they'd left half a dozen nurses to do the jabs and direct people. Shocking. And if you need to see a doctor if you're unwell you've got more chance of flying to the moon on a broomstick. They get the doctor to phone you back, or if it's more serious they tell you to dial 999. No wonder the ambulance and hospitals get overrun.

Afternoon everyone.
Bit of a wind here too Starry but a beautiful cloudless deep blue sky and bright sunshine. I'm having a lazy day today. No masks to make, and dinner is in the fridge ready to go in the microwave later. I made a lovely beef stew yesterday so had half and the other half will be tonights dinner.
Asda's delivered my fortnightly shop, and that's all put away. Didnt buy toilet rolls LOL
That was a rotten trick stealing the tender. I wonder if it's been taken away or someone just used it and then left it to drift down river.
Enjoy the rest of your day folks and stay safe!

Its a crisp bright day here today.
I'm off to have a pedicure and reflexology............ I haven't had a pedicure since the year dot.
Paul was supposed to be picking me up and to me to meet Maya and Lola from school but apparently they've got cold and might not be going. I'm waiting to hear. If not, bang goes my time in the car to have a quiet conversation with him. The plans of mice and men.
I've booked a hair cut for a couple of weeks to get my shape back (or not). It will be interesting to see the difference between a trained hairdresser and my clipper cuts. Its a new salon for me.
Hope the tender was found Starry.

Good morning ladies, beautiful here today, clear deep blue sky! I think it's the last good day then we have 5 storms lined up in the coming few days.
I go to Blush in Station Yard Diane, they are brilliant. Although saying that I've not been since last year as lockdown happened when I was due for my 3 month trim and I've been managing it myself since then.
Venturing out to the post office this morning to post a parcel that needs a cert of posting. I went yesterday and didnt see one person wearing a mask apart from in the post office itself. No-one in Roche seems to take it seriously.
Should dig out the compost from one of the big 40L containers that had my runner beans in, as I want to spread it on the borders at the front, as when the gardener took the turf off he also took a lot of top soil with it. pffft... But my backs a bit dodgy at the moment so will give it a miss. There's no rush. I have til November when the plants arrive.
I'm toying with the idea of making more chutney so far I've made Runner Bean Chutney, Christmas Spicey Chutney, and Apple and Ginger Chutney. I've still got some windfalls left and wonder whether to make apple and date chutney, or a mixture of hedgerow berries and apple. I pickled a dozen eggs the other week, as they'd been in the fridge a while, so wondering whether to pickle another dozen for the winter. Eggs were difficult to get hold of in the last lockdown and people are panic buying already so things are getting difficult to get. I do my eggs either in apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar, as malt or white vinegar is just too tart for me. I'll be making pretty caps for the jars from fabric and giving some away as christmas presents this year.
Enjoy your pedicure Diane, I end up in fits of laughter when someone touches my feet so a pedicure is something I don't have. The reflexology should help relax you. My friend in Somerset has diploma's in Indian Head Massage, and was going to give me one when she came down to visit this year, but that won't be happening now with Covid.
Enoy your day ladies.
