Good afternoon everyone, just finished preparing the last of the veg and chopping it up for chutney which is now bubbling on the stove. It's my own recipe, anything that's left over, however small an amount, runner beans, green tomatoes, blueberries, cucumber, onions, shallots, windfalls, then throw in some crystalised ginger, ground ginger, salt, and dried fruit that needs using up in the store cupboard like chopped dried apricots, dates and sultanas, all mixed in with apple cider vinegar. It's a recipe an old lady gave me on the estate we lived on when we had the smallholding, and had been handed down through her family for decades. The last time I made this was when Pete was alive, it tastes different every year because the amounts of veg/fruit varies but it was always delish.
The men are working out the back to replace the electricity pylon, poor devils it's been torrential rain showers on and off today. They've put a big bridge thing across the road with a safety net fixed to it, incasethe mains cables drop I suppose. They constructed the new pylon in the field it's in 3 pieces now, and I thnk they're removing the old one today and putting the new one straight up. The electric was off for one hour this morning and will be again for one hour tomorrow evening, but inbetween they've connected our supply up to a big generator.
It's very clever how they do it.
Starry that's a brilliant idea to plant daffs on that piece of ground, it'll be so cheerful next spring.
Well must get back to stirring me chutney, keep safe and warm.

Good afternoon all
Iceland came this morning with my delivery of unhealthy processed pies and bakes. LOL Asda come Sunday with the pet food and essentials. I lead an exciting life.
Just dashing off to Bugle, about 5 miles away to collect some plants. I put a wanted on Freegle a couple months back now asking if anyone had any hardy geraniums or geums and a lady messaged me last night, so off to collect them. Wonder if theyr'e already dug up, I hope so, my backs a bit dodgy for digging. I'm giving her one of my masks as a goodwill gesture and thank you.
Well done Starry on planting all the daffs, they'll look amazing come Spring. I need to get some bulbs for the front garden it looks a bit drab with the lavender drab grey and nothing else in bloom apart from the 2 hebes.
Enjoy your day and stay safe everyone! x

Evening all we've been down the van for a few days sorting out the things we no longer need and wont be taking home. I had two sewing machines down there. Sadly my old overlocker had seized due to rust and not being able to change the dehumidifier pot. It was 30 years old and a much used friend. The sewing machine a lightweight was in good working order once I realised that modern sewing machines don't have a bobbing case!LOL The charity shop in the village took everything except clothes and books so that was a help. The junk went into the skip. We've done one cupboard and a 6 foot sofa bench with storage under. Both are empty now. Not sure when we're going back again.

Good afternoon all. Been up since before sparrow fart. Had to return to the caravan to collect Brodie's medication which we both forgot to pack. I'm not used to being up at 6 am, far too early. I'm now awaiting my shopping which Sally is doing for me. She's a great help and nothing is too much trouble. She a professional shopper and will often say as she can't get something at one supermarket she leaves it until she's shopping for someone else at a different supermarkets. Have a good day all and stay safe.
