Re: Good Morning

Hi Sally. Getting there but we have loads of things still to bring back. We brought back a lot of my clothing and summer shoes while we were there today. We'll be going down again soon only got 12 days now to empty it. I've got a large load for a charity shop no doubt there is a lot more to add. No one seems to be taking books anymore I've got a large box to them to dispose of. It will probably have to go into the skip on site, such a shame. Hope your Mum's chemo does the trick and gives her a lot more time.

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon all. It's a lovely sunny dry day here to enjoy. Still sorting out the items we've brought home so far. There's still a lot more to do! It seems to be never-ending but we'll get there by the deadline somehow or other. About 5 more carloads and we should be clear. Can't come soon enough.  Stay safe.

Re: Good Morning

Evening all. Sorry for my abscence

Been busy still sewing masks, it did go a bit quiet a few weeks ago, which gave me time to sort the front garden. No Starry the geraniums weren't dug up, I dug them out but they are only shallow rooted so it wasn't too bad. I've planted them under the rosemary hedge out the front. Also all the new flower beds are done, and the lavenders transplanted, together with pastel primulas and pink/blue and white forgetmenots. I've done a sketch of how it will look to remind me where to plant everything. Most of the plants are in but there are some roses and perennials that wont be here yet. I can't wait to see how it turns out next year.

Fed up with people  moaning about the virus, if they did as they were advised and done all the social distancing and wearing masks it wouldn't be so bad. The youngsters have never had to go without or struggle so they're finding it hard and saying how bad it is. Young mothers saying they can't feed their kids. Well I guess thats because they no longer teach cooking at schools and most young women admit they can't cook, and they all seem to live beyond their means.  Rant over LOL

Carol are you giving up the caravan?

Re: Good Morning

Hi Hazel, yes I am. I need both knees replaced but it looks as though it will take at least a year before I can get it done. I'm having real trouble getting up and down the steps to the van. Gordon is also finding all the fetching and carrying too much every time we go down there. Gordon is 80 now and also needs replacement knees along with loads of health problems so we've done well to go down as long as we have,  To be honest the site used to be happy and friendly with loads of socialising. Gradually all our friends have given up coming down and the newcomers ( mainly Londoners) do not mix.  We do hear from some of them but they come from all over the country so meet ups are not possible.

Re: Good Morning

Starry, I suggest your friend contacts the university and formally alerts them to the situation. If they prove unhelpful I suggest she rings the story to one of the newspapers. No one who is ill should starve!

Re: Good Morning

I didn't realise there were cases in the village Starry. It's been two weeks since Gordon got to close to one of the workmen on site and was laughing and joking with him - no masks. We're both alright so far but you never know. Gordon now understands why I was so angry with him putting both our lives at risk whilst we're still shielding. I've got to watch him because he's so forgetful.

Re: Good Morning

History teaches us that the second wave is going to kill more than the first wave Starry. It did in the Flu pandemic of 1919 - 20. I just wish people would wear masks and stick to social distancing and not be so selfish. They seem to think they are invincible. I do hope the lockdown saves lives and slows the virus down.  If the drive down this afternoon is anything to go by very few of the young and quite a few elderly are not bothering with masks- sheer madness! We also get fed up, we read, watch tv and take the odd trip out in the car. My licence expires this evening, but Nick has been very good and said we can stay until we finish emptying the van. The weather is not being kind and today we both ended up soaked and went home with half a carload.  It's way too cold to stay overnight and we're getting fed up with driving back and forth. I'm hoping that we finish before lockdown starts on Thursday. I've got some plants in pots that I'd like to keep but I may have to leave them.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

Rushing round getting ready to go to Truro to try to pick up the Christmas novelties for Maya and Lola that I take all year gathering as I go usually - but not this year. Paul is taking us there and then we'll go and collect M & L from school. That will be the last time we see them for a bit unless we wangle the child care bit!!!

Completely fed up with second lockdown. The first was bad enough but the weather was so beautiful and we spent so much time in the garden. That wont happen this time.

I know I should have gone for murder the first time!!!!!!

Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all. We're up early as we've got to do two trips an pieces. The first to get the bits and pieces from the van and the second to bring the heavy things back. Nick has been very good and is letting me have a workman to do the heavy lifting and my gardener is going to unload it for me. Today will be the last day and we will both be very glad to be finished with the to and throwing, although we will miss the van and the village. My bedroom is full can't get around the bed to the wardrobes,  and the dining room and lounge aren't much better.
