Re: Good Morning

On another forum someone recommended Oven Pride. Just tried it and it’s fabulous. Can’t post a photo of gleaming oven.  Shelves in packet and fluid overnight and some fluid wiped on oven overnight and wipe off. Did have a couple of marks on shelves that needed a bit more than a wipe.  But brilliant

Re: Good Morning

Evening all, we stayed up very late last night and saw the New Year in.  We watched the fireworks in London, some of the effects were really special. The soundtrack was appalling it would have been better with none.  I didn't get to bed until 1 am and didn't put the light out until just before 2 am. I like to read before I go to sleep and I wanted to finish my book. A a result of the late-night I've felt very tired all day.  We've been finishing up the Christmas goodies, neither of us are feeling hungry tonight so will cook the beef tomorrow instead, Hope you all have had a good day. xx

Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all, it is bitterly cold today. I've had to crank the heating up. Gordon has only just woken up he sleeps in every morning, so not a lot gets done. Yesterday he didn't even do the wiping up!  This morning he put the oil-filled radiator on in the kitchen so it would be warm for me to do the washing up. I didn't say anything just turned the heater off and left the kitchen.  He promptly went into the bathroom. I've finally learned that after 3 failed marriages he's immune to anything I say or do.  So I'm just going to do my own thing and do nothing. I've got lots of hobbies I can get on with and books to read. I've also got lots of chocolates and biscuits that I was given as presents. So I won't starve and since I'm not a diabetic I don't have to eat at regular times.  I'm just writing a shopping list for my shopper, lots of healthy foods that he won't like! Next week will be interesting! lol  Have a good day all.

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon, it's very cold here today. There's a draft coming from somewhere at floor level. I shall be testing the vents to see where it's coming from. I've got plenty of draft excludes so hopefully, I'll be able to sort it out.  Had to get up early this morning as we were cooking yesterday and we created lots of dirty dishes between us. . We both set too and by the time my shopper delivered all was ready to sterilise it. Now it's time to relax. We have a pizza for dinner tonight we both enjoy it so the rest of the day is for relaxing.  Hope everyone is well and warm.

Re: Good Morning

I haven’t heard anything about anyone having the vaccine. There was a place you could enter your details and find when you might have it. I was due 17 January but now it’s March to May 😤

Cornwall was at the bottom of the list of 14 areas in the south west and now we are second for infection

Re: Good Morning

Gordon is having his vaccination tomorrow afternoon. It should have been on 15th December but his notification was sent to his flat despite Gordon notifying them of his new address. The estate manager sent it to my address, but we quarantine all our mail for 5 days.. His appointment is at our local community hospital who are using the better vaccine.  When I get mine February/March it will be the Oxford one, not too happy about that but it's better than nothing.

Re: Good Morning

I think Hazel is probably busy making masks etc.  I heard from her on New Year's Eve. I'm sure she'll come in when she can. Gordon was very pleased with the service at our local community hospital. I was less that delighted. It was bitter in the hospital car park and I had to sit in the car and wait for 45 minutes. When he finally appeared I was shivering and shaking. The cold aggravated my arthritis so I'm now in a lot of pain. He's slept  since he came home, but he had the decency to make me a cuppa and two hot wheat bags first.  He's now in the kitchen cooking dinner. Bless him. Apparently he was warned that the vaccine would make him sleepy. It should be an interesting few days as he sleeps 10 hours or longer now.

Re: Good Morning

Not feeling too great today. Whilst at the hospital the man directing the parking approached my car and spoke across me through the slightly open window. He was far too close but wearing a mask I wasn't because I wasn't expecting him to do that and I was in my car which should be safe. Just hoping he was clear of the virus, something else for me to worry about for the next two weeks. He did that again to someone else. It's not good enough he should have known better. Not a happy bunny.

Re: Good Morning

Afternoon everyone!
I hadn't been well since Christmas Day, my gall bladder had been playing up all year on and off, I range 111 back in March/April and they got a doctor to phone me who told me off for wasting their time as there were people in hospital dying of covid. So I just put up with it but Christmas Day it was horrendous. So I put myself on bread and water until a couple of days ago when I now eat no fat and some low fat food. Good way to lose way but I wouldn't recommend it.

I had been busy making masks and sent the last order off yesterday.
My surgery actually did my HBA1c bloods for diabetes, T4 and lipids Tuesday, so expect the glucose numbers will be up as I'd not been sticking to eating the right foods since the first lockdown, as I was comfort eating. Now paying the price.
Thankfully I feel a lot better, and almost out of the woods. Thank God.
No word on when I'll be getting my vaccine, I was hoping to get the Oxford one as it's far superior to the other one. But not sure if I will have any of them, as I have underlying conditions which they have said not to take the vaccine if you have them.
I was so glad when the national lockdown came into effect but it hasn't made much difference to people, they are still carrying on as if there is no virus.
I've been getting as many no fat cake recipes as I can and posting one a day on Twitter. Last lockdown I did a  Can't Cook Kitchen which was simple easy everyday cheap meals for people to make, they were really popular. But thought the lowfat/nofat cakes would be popular.  I made a wartime fruit cake yesterday, no fat a tall lots of fruit and it is absolutely smashing. My gran used to make it when I was little and I loved it then. It's nice to be able to eat something that won't aggrovate my gall bladder.

I've enjoyed reading back everyone's posts on here to catch up with you all. xxx
