Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone. It was really cold last night, the ice on the ponds this morning is really thick and even the splashes froze solid from the waterpump feature. Its like a mini glacier now. The fish are ok tho as there's movement in the surface water and some areas not covered with ice.

It was alot warmer indoors last night after I taped polythene over the extractor vent in the kitchen. Made such a difference.

Starry how lovely you can be with family, that'll make all the difference in your well being. x

Not doing much today, few bits of sorting out things I no longer need or want ready for the charity shops when we can use them again.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all.  I had my covid vaccination yesterday lunchtime at a local hospital. It was well organised and painless.  My arm was a bit sore and heavy afterwards. During the night I woke up freezing, I ended up the night with 5 duvets and my heavy dressing gown on top of them. I'm still shivering now and feel about 3 degrees under. Hopefully, I'll be fine tomorrow. My car was collected yesterday for it's MOT won't be getting it back until Friday or Saturday. I'm not bothered as it's not as though we're going anywhere.
Hopefully, it will get through, I think it needs 3 new tyres as they getting low. Have a good day all and stay safe.

Re: Good Morning

Afternoon ladies. Bitter cold day here, but warm indoors thank goodness now Ive blocked that pesky extractor  fan vent up.

Which vaccination did you have Carol? I'm guessing the Oxford one. I've not heard of anyone get any side effects of the Pfizer one yet. Most people that have had the Oxford one feel poorly for up to a week afterwards.

I started the new tablets (Omeprazole) the Doc gave me yesterday, my neighbours son finished work early so he could pick them up for me, bless him. The doctor wants to try me on these meds to see if it improves the symptoms, as he said he's not sure what the problem is as the ultrasound didnt show anything that would cause my symptoms. He thinks it may be an ulcer, either stomach or deudenal. In which case it can be fixed with meds. But if I dont feel any improvement in 2 to 3 weeks I have to contact him again and he'll refer me to a gastroneterologist.

I suddenly remembered last night that back in 1993 when the twin towers attack took place, that I had a 2 week course of 2 strong antibiotics plus this medication the doctor's put me on now as I had campylobacter pylori, the cure was worse than the infection. I can't remember the symptoms I had back then as it was so long ago, but I do remember feeling dreadful with the treatment and had to complete it to make sure all the bacteria were wiped out. They live under the stomach lining, so you have to have strong meds that strip that away to kill them and their eggs. I was never tested after the course of treatment to see if it had worked for some reason so assumed I didn't need to be. These bacteria cause stomach and deudenal ulcers if not treated. So now I'm wondering if they are the cause of my current problem if it is an ulcer. The thing is these meds will help with the symptoms but won't kill the bacteria if it is that thats causing the problem. So I need a blood test to check if I've been reinfected.
Evidently everyone has these bacteria living under their stomach mucus lining, and for some unknown reason their population can suddenly explode and then you get problems like ulcers.
So will see how I go for the next 2-3 weeks then when I speak to the doc again mention the compylobacter pylori thing.
Anyway, took one tablet this morning and not sure if its working as I dont feel too bad today, but that could just be normal, because some days I do feel ok and others not. What a palava.

Made a lovely chicken stew in the slow cooker so looking forward to that tonight.
Stay safe everyone

Re: Good Morning

Update, feeling much better, I've warmed up somewhat and beginning to feel more like me. I'm still very tired but two bad nights in a row explains that. My back is a lot easier. My MOT has been done as expected it failed on 3 tyres and the 4th was only just legal so has been replaced also. The bill is £387 which for my car is reasonable. I'm getting it back tomorrow so I'm a happy bunny. Gordon's happy as he'll be able to put all the charity shop items back in the car, he'll be even happier when we get rid of it.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

Dry but very cold here. Brrr.

Glad your car was sorted Annie - and you've had your jab.

Hubby was very out of it yesterday - and I'm putting that down to his jab - Oxford one. My sister felt that too.

I had the Pfizer one and only had a sore heavy arm that I felt unable to use and lightheaded and dizzy the evening I had it. Again, I've heard others that felt that too. I was wondering whether I'd imagined it.

They are getting on very well with the jabs and it wont be too long before you have yours Hazel

Re: Good Morning

Morning everyone.
I've heard mostly tales of people being poorly after the Oxford jab, and none for the Pfizer one. I'd like the Pfizer one for that reason mainly LOL  But trust the basis of the Oxford one better, it's not a new way of making vaccines so I trust it more than the Pfizer one. Daft I know.

Well it looked lovely when I woke, bright sunshine, and still is but my God that wind's bitter. I was well wrapped up when I went out to feed the birds and still felt cold. The dogs are wearing their thick padded winter coats with the wide belly and chest covering sewn in so they're nice and toasty, infact Dopey Dora now wants to run around in the wind chasing leaves and things as she's nice and warm in her coat. Gizmo does his biz and rushes back in again skidding to a halt on the back door mat to have his coat taken off. He's not daft.

Took my new tablet last night at bedtime and again this morning and touch wood still feel ok. Just a little soreness and ache but nothing like it was. I feel so relieved and happy to feel almost better. So grateful to that doctor I could give him a kiss.... masked and from a safe distance of course, just looking on Amazon for lips on a stick *giggles*

Keep warm and safe everyone!

Re: Good Morning

I’ll have to remember that when hubby has his second one.  Thanks Starry. We weren’t told that.

Re: Good Morning

Thanks, Starry I wasn't told that either!  I usually drink between 3 and 4 pints of fluid a day But I didn't drink a lot that day as we were driving and we didn't want to use the facilities in the hospital.  When we got home we got tied up and didn't make a cuppa until we finished.
