I haven’t seen our granddaughters for so long Starry. Could be October I’ve still got all their Christmas stuff. Paul is going through courts to get some access as she’s blocked him from seeing them.

Good morning, it's brass monkey weather here. It's bitter out but lovely and warm in here. Having a TV cinema day. Sharpe this morning and then a DVD of my choice. Gordon will probably go to sleep in his chair or If Palace are playing he'll be following it on the computer. in the car. Be glad to get it out of the bungalow. Have a good day and keep warm.

Good afternoon ladies. I had my letter from the NHS this morning, I can book an appointment at a pharmacy or the main vaccination hub or I can wait to hear from my GP. Last time the GP only did the Pfizer one, and the pharmacy only did the Oxford one, so not sure what to do now. I don't really want to feel any worse than I do at the moment with this bloomin stomach problem, so would rather have the Pfizer one but obviously can't choose, and if I hang on for the GP to contact me they may not be doing the Pfizer/Moderna jabs either. They weren't very helpful when I rang the other week when needing to know if I should cancel my eye appointent at the hospital they just said they don't know if or when they're getting anymore vaccine, could be a week could be a month. I didn't ask which one as they obviously dont know at the moment.
Someone said older people don't seem to get the same side effects of the Oxford one as younger people, but I'm not so sure, most people who told me they were really poorly were all older than me.
Starry thanks for the info on your daughter and her ulcer. I have some pain today, but I suppose if it is an ulcer it will take a long time to heal, like your daughters, as I've had it for so long. But it's encouraging she was better in 6 months.
We had some snow first thing, only a dusting, but its all gone now and we have rain and strong wind again.
Stay safe everyone.

Glad you had your jab letter Hazel. It will be difficult to get a particular jab. Don’t let it hold you back from booking. Any jab is better than no jab

Morning ladies.
Diane, I'm going to hang on til I hear from my GP, I'd be grateful for any jab of course, but only prefer the Pfizer because the side effects are next to nothing whereas the Oxford ones are horrible in more people than than those that dont get any at all. Living on my own it's quite an important thing to consider, especially not having any friends close by and no relatives. When you're totally on your own it changes almost everything in life that most people don't have to worry about unfortunately.
Glad to say it's just rain and strong wind today, and a balmy 11C here.
Hope everyone's warm and safe and enjoying Sunday!

My eldest daughter had the Oxford vaccine today at our local hospital, the rest of the teachers at her school had their jabs yesterday , 5 out 6 of them were very achy today with headaches and feeling sick, my daughter was telling the nurse how awful they all looked this morning and she said to avoid the side effects you need to drink plenty of water , we were not told that but both of us do drink a lot of water so is that why we had no side effects ? She was also told not to drive , again we were not told that ! anyway if anyone is having the Oxford vaccine drinking water might help .
You should always drink a lot of water before having a blood test of injection of any kind, as it thins the blood which helps, in the case of vaccinations, for the blood to travel through the veins/arteries easier and faster, so whatever it is you've had injected can travel around the body faster and take effect better. It also helps if you're having blood tests and BP checked. I've not heard of drinking a lot of water after an injection though, and with intramuscular jabs its slower getting into the blood stream anyway as it passes through the muscles and isn't injected directly into the blood stream. Mind you that was what I was taught when I was a student nurse, things have moved on a lot since then it was nearly 50yrs ago LOL
Glad your daughter's feeling better today after her jab.

Good afternoon all, It's been dry, but bitterly cold with a strong wind. Sally has delivered my shopping and it's been sprayed. It will be put it away soon. Gordon did a smashing roast last night but the downside was the washing up. I did that this morning, Gordon does the wiping up. He's cooking the pizza tonight when he wakes up. I can barely move I had a bad night and when I did sleep I was in a bad position, so my back is in agony today. I've taken pain relief which has made me dopey, but barely touched my pain. Enjoy your evening.

Hello everyone.
Its a beautiful day here today.
Things have gone from worse to worserer!!!!! Bloody awful here. I've been on the phone constantly saying I can't cope and they are looking for a respite bed - could be Cornwall or Devon. I phone up again and I feel like a broken record I can't cope - he isn't sleeping - so that means I'm not. Paul and Hannah slept here last night to help but not sure if it did - but they can see how bad it is at least.
Doctor has put me on blood pressure pills and I'm waiting for them to be delivered and getting back to bed. I did have 4 ish hours straight off last night - first time for ages

Evening all, We've had a drizzly morning and a dry afternoon. I sorted out 3 trolleys of bits and found my sun/night driving glasses, they had somehow been under one of the seats and when Gordon emptied the car for the MOT he put everything in the trolley. Now if only I can find the second pair. Diane, I'm so sorry that you're struggling at the moment. I do hope that you get some respite care very soon.

Afternoon all a wet miserable cold day. Not done much had a very bad night and my back is giving me hell today. I did manage to do the washing up and I'm off to the kitchen to make the custard and topping for the trifle. Gordon is going to do a stir fry but he's like a bear with a sore head at the moment I guess he's in pain as well. He's got a load of rubbish and a large bag of recycling to do but won't take it out because it's raining. He's brought me in a large bag of bits to go through, hopefully I'll be able to get rid of some of it. Enjoy your evening and stay safe.
