Good afternoon everyone, beautiful day here, really warm out in the garden I'm in a t-shirt!
Thanks Diane, did you have to queue outside then? I wouldnt think there'll be a queue for me as my appointment is 9.10am. I'll have a nosey while I'm there and see if I can find out anything about our new doctors surgery being up there.
I've got some bread cooking, fed up with the shop stuff, so gone back to making my own, it's a third of plain white, wholemeal and granary. It seems to make the best flavoured loaf to me. Also have a chicken casserole in the slow cooker and been outside in the garden tidying up, cutting the fronds off the tree fern I'd bent down around the trunk, moved some potted shrubs out onto the patio area and fed the worms and collected their worm tea from their wormery.
Think I'll watch a movie this afternoon. I took a look at Prime Video and Disney and there's so much on there it'd take me 100yrs to watch them all. I haven't looked at AppleTV yet, I have a year free when I bought a new iPhone and 6 months free Disney with an O2 sim I got for my old iPHone. Already had Prime. My friend has Britbox and I thought it was all stuff I'd seen before, she said it's very good as it has the really old tv series on there going back decades. But it something else to pay for so won't bother. I was tempted to have Netflix, but with the other 3 streaming services not sure it would be worth it. For someone who doesnt watch much TV I'm doing ok LOL
Enjoy your Saturday ladies!

Good afternoon ladies.
Starry, I've always wondered how lights can be turned on and off with Google Assistant via the Hive. Is it lamps which are plugged into sockets or the main ceiling lights? There's only me here so no point in me having it, but I'm curious as to how it works.
Our suport for carers in Cornwall is shocking. When Peter was ill I had to endure physical and mental abuse for 5 years. 3 weeks before he killed himself they agreed to put him in a 'safe' house in North Devon to give me a break, which is where he killed himself. Putting him in the safe house only caused more problems for me, because as soon as he was there the benefits stopped and were directed to him instead, which of course he collected in cash every fortnight from the local post office and spent it all on booze. I was left with nothing as I was still working age and couldn't get any help at all financially. But previous to that I was told unless he put me into hospital or killed me then nothing could be done. It hasn't changed. As we can see by what's happening with Diane's situation. Our social servicse or whatever they're called now are practically non existent in Cornwall.
When my brother was so ill and I couldnt look after him properly at home here I had to take him back to his bungalow where he was at risk of falling and unable to get up (which had happened frequently before I brought him here to live with me. I was told it was the only way to get him into a nursing home. I felt dreadful having to do that, he was my only living relative and I felt as if I was deserting him when he needed me most. After he'd been back in his bungalow a couple of weeks, I managed to get his GP, the social worker and another medical professional to come to his bungalow to assess him and arrange for him to go into a nursing home. And even then the 'medical professional' and the social worker were hell bent on leaving him in the bungalow. I lost it with them and gave them what for and told them what I thought of them, the GP stepped in and backed up what I was saying but more diplomatically and finally they agreed to admit him to a nursing home. They were like witches of Eastwich all whispering and twittering to each other infront of us, and my brother as if we weren't there. Shocking treatment. Instead of going into a local nursing home they shoved him in one a Lostwithiel which was a lot further to travel to see him every day than if they'd put him in one in Bodmin. There were spaces in Bodmin but they insisted he go to Lostwithiel. I think probably to get their own back on me for flying at them. But they were damn useless at their jobs. Even the GP said that to me after they'd gone. So our support for those who need it in Cornwall is zilch and always has been.
We've got a lovely sunny day here, and it's really warm in the garden. I'm about to go out into the front garden and plant the arum lilies in the damp bed under my bedroom window, it floods (as does most of the garden) and the water lies there for weeks before soaking away and it never gets any sun but does get plenty of light, so thought I'd put arum lilies there as they thrive in those conditions. I believe they smell nice too so in the summer with the bedroom window open I might be able to smell them as the scent wafts indoors through the window.
Enjoy your day ladies xxx

Good afternoon all, up early to do the washing up and refine the shopping list. Sally day today, she got most of what I ordered. Not such a long list today and it didn't take long to spray. What didn't go into the fridge/freezer will be put away tomorrow. We're both very tired tonight. I'll be glad when we can go out, hopefully Boris will be able to start to ease things a bit.

Good morning ladies.
STARRY It all went really well. I parked opposite the door and had to stay in the car until 5 mins before my appointment then go across. There wasn't a queue as such, perhaps 2 or 3 infront of me, but we all went through pretty fast. Didn't feel the jab, came out had to wait in the car for 15mins then went to Pets at Home for Lily's prescription food and back home by 9.55. I didn't have a sore arm or any side effects, and wondered what I'd feel like in the morning, but this morning I feel great.
Was talking to a couple of friends about the AZ vaccine and they said they know several people around my age (them included) who found the vaccine had somehow kick started their immune systems and they no longer had some things they'd had for years before the vaccine, like some aches and pains or what have you. I have to admit my tummy feels a bit better today too which is odd. So maybe there is something in it. The ones that had the Pfizer jab didn't experience the same things tho. So maybe there's something in the AZ one thats not in the Pfizer that does us some good. Anyway I'm so relieved to have had it. I was surprised it wasn't the Pfizer but the nurse said they'd run out of Pfizer and had been sent the Oxford rather than having to cancel appointments. But after the recent good news about the Oxford vaccine being a bit better than the Pfizer one regards protection I'm not bothered I didn't get the Pfizer one.
We have glorious sunshine again today, third day in a row. The garden is bursting into bloom now, it's beautiful. Even some of the summer flowering bulbs and plants are pushing up through the soil. The next thing will be the birds nesting.

Hello everyone.
Hubby has been taken into hospital and I actually got some sleep last night.
I've had a quick whizz round the house and changed the towels and bedding. Just waiting for the spin, get it out on the line and I'll be off for a walk. Might be just round the block, not sure how far I could manage.
Glad your jab went ok Hazel. Its going to be a bit more complicated with the second jab if they are still giving us the same vaccine if they don't know which stocks are arriving until the last minute. It does feel reassuring to have had the jab and even better when the three weeks are up and it really kicks in.

Sorry to hear hubby has been taken into hospital but so relieved for you. As Starry said you deserve a break. Any idea how long he'll be in for and have they taken him to Truro or somewhere else?
Glad you've got some 'me time' now to recharge your batteries. xxx
Regards the supply of vaccines in future, I think the only one there will be a problem with when it's time for the 2nd jab is the Pfizer one, because they only ordered 40million doses and they would need to order more for 2nd doses. The Oxord one shouldnt be such a problem as they've got 100million of that. You'd have thought they would have had some sort of system whereby they only supply the number of vaccines to cover half the amount they have (of each brand of vaccine), leaving the other half for 2nd doses. But they don't seem to do anything that makes common sense.

Hello everyone.
A grey damp day here and feeling chilly when I went to collect the recycling bins in. I will get out for a walk in a bit though.
Hubby was taken in because of his Alzheimers for both our safety. He is in Bodmin Hazel, which is good because I can drop of whatever if I need to. It looks like he'll be in for at least a month.
The phone has been ringing off the hook with nurses from the ward phonng to ask questions about him and his likes, dislikes and lifestyle and his history. They are really trying to find the person in there which is lovely.
Every time I go to make a cup of tea the phone goes so I've had lots of stewed tea and have to remake it, or no tea at all. I've solved it by getting out my hot drinks container and pouring out a normal cup of tea for me to drink and one in the pot to keep hot if the phone goes!!!
I've had a couple of very good nights but yesterday and last night I was so jittery I couldn't sleep.

I had the meters changed to smart meters yesterday and ordered a turkey roast from a local coffee shop and of course they all came together. So ate a bit of the dinner while it was still hot and saved the rest to reheat and eat later. Delicious it was too
