AFternoon all.
Got my cordless mower and I love it. It cut the 2 small front lawns, then I took it around the back and it cut right round the edge of the big lawn where the robomower can't reach. Still had 3 of the 4 battery power lights on. Amazing.

Also bought a cordless strimmer in Amazon's Spring Sale, half price. Can't get the blades for my other one, so took the plunge and bought another. It's a B&D 18v and uses any line, you can buy the line in catridges or wind it on yourself. Not used it yet.

Moving my big rosemaries today from the front as they didnt do well out there, too exposed, and will be replacing them with 19 Queen Elizabeth roses, in 3 colours, planted a foot apart to form a thick hedge. The other QE roses are all pink and along the bottom but spaced 3ft apart as they're in a mixed border with knautia melton pastels, verbena bonariensis, hardy geraniums, tall purple aliums, violas and Salvia Black and Blue. Also have half a dozen mixed floribundas coming to dot between the lavender, hardy geraniums and forgetmenots in the borders each side of the path. Hopefully summer will be a blaze of colour. In the small border in the corner against the bungalow where it never gets sun I've planted a Rose of Sharon and Alchamilla Mollis (sp?) plus a lilac. And finally along the 4th fence from the bungalow down to the bottom there are buddlea's and hydrangeas. Can't wait for summer! My friend in Yorkshire asked why I'm putting so many flowers out the front, so I told her the back garden only has a small flower border, as it's all trees and shrubs around the edge of the lawn, and I can't see the flower border from the living room/kitchen very easily as it's to the side of the windows. Plus I can see the flowers at the front everytime I go to bed or in the hobby room, and look out, or go in and out to the car. Made more sense to me.

At the moment it's mostly violas, forgetmenots and primulas in bloom and spring bulbs. I'll take some pics once everything's in full bloom in summer.

DIANE, you won't have to sell your house. The only time you would is if you were going into a home and Al was no longer alive. If one spouse is still in the home then it's not an option to sell. They will find a nursing home for him. So don't worry. I think you may lose Al's pension though, if that goes towards the mortgage if you have one, so you would only be left with your own pension, and you'd lose any benefits you receive while you were his carer. So it may be a struggle to meet mortgage payments. One option if it came to that would be to get your son to move in with you and both share the mortgage, especially if he's going to inherit it anyway.

Its been so difficult to find out any correct information Hazel. I've looked and looked. We had the discharge meeting yesterday and they said he needs 24 hour care and even having care at home wouldn't be enough support for me to look after him. So a care home has been decided.
I thought that I would be able to live in the house while I was alive and then when I died it would be sold to pay the home costs. I did see one tiny bit that gave me a glimmer of hope that said the same as you are saying ... that if I outlive hubby then there will be no charge against the house. Luckily we've paid off the mortgage otherwise it would be an enormous struggle. It seems like a blinking nightmare but the financial side of it will be on the phone as quick as you like to sort it, I bet.

Not sure if I said or not but I've got my second jab booked for the 8th

Good afternoon all, quite a nice day here. We had an early start for Gordon to have a blood test, his sugar level will be sky-high. He doesn't care, and I've given up telling him. He does the cooking, he doesn't do diets so I eat what I'm given. I've put 21lbs on and will be joining the rolly pollies if I don't watch out.
Diane, you could also try the Citizens advice service, they're very helpful.

Evening all.

Potted up the last of the rosemary bushes I dug up yesterday. It's been a beautiful hot day here. It was lovely in the garden. My friend in Camberley rang this evening I'd not heard from her for ages, she'd been very poorly and in hospital with a blood clot and breathing problems. The clot was about 4 weeks after her AZ vaccination. She said the hospital didn't mention the vaccination or link it to the clot, so she's assuming it was something else caused it.

I had my first zoom social cafe meeting today organised by Cornwall Mind. It was quite enjoyable. It's every Thursday at 10.30. There's another on Mondays, but I won't bother going to that one. I was referred to all these things via Age UK. I've got a wellbeing zoom course starting next week, one morning a week and then on 26th of April a 6 week course on Creative Writing. I don't know how I'll fit them all in with my other stuff I do every day, but I decided after Christmas I would make the effort to be more sociable and not so isolated and reclusive. Even though I quite enjoy it. LOL

Good morning everyone. It looks like another nice day outside. Sue is coming down for a chat today and we are planning on going out somewhere tomorrow.

Sounds like you've been super busy in the garden Hazel. Hope its not messed up too much when they come and sort out the flooding issues later after all your hard work.

I will check out Age UK and Citizens Advice Starry and Annie. Its happening, so will go with the flow and check it out as its going.

Afternoon ladies! What a brilliant day.

Diane, they won't be digging anywhere near the plants at the back, but they may get pretty close to one flower border out the front, the one under the windows. But that's only a small border and I can easily dig up the bulbs and the few plants there.

A day out with Sue will make a change for you, it's nice to get away from 4 walls for a while.
I've just signed up with Netflix to see what it's like, I really only want to see Last Kingdom as everyone is raving about it and if I watch it on my Amazon Prime I'd have to pay to view each episode pffft..... Not sure if it's on AppleTV I don't think it is. I'll have to keep tabs on all these apps, at the moment I've got AppleTV (free for another 6months) Disney+ free for about another 4 months, Amazon Prime and now Netflix.

Be interested to hear what people's view of Netflix is. I picked the cheapest basic package as thats all I want but when I signed up for an account they gave me 30 days HD package as a free upgrade, then if I don't do anything it either stays the same and I pay more or I can downgrade to the basic one I signed up for. It's £4 more for the Standard package per month. Which doesn't sound much but it is added to all the other DD's and SO's I have. lol

It's a beautiful crisp day here, it would have been nice to go out, but too much traffic on the roads and the beach will be crowded. My modem was on the blink so I had no internet this morning. Gordon was fast asleep in his chair, blocking my access. He had a bad night, so after breakfast, he dozed off, and I didn't have the heart to wake him. It's working now, but I need a replacement. Whilst Gordon slept, I did the washing up and a bit of tidying up. I'm spending the afternoon reading, working my way through a series by Elly Griffiths, and I'm really enjoying them. I really should be working, but although the spirit is willing my body is on strike! Another day's rest won't hurt. Have a good weekend all and be good.

Good Morning all, it's cold here. After such lovely warm days, it has come as a bit of a shock to the system. I've some pillows and duvets to sort out, and hopefully vac pack, while I wait for the charity shops to open. Have a good day all.
