Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon all. 2nd attempt my first post disappeared.  It's cold and damp here my arthritis doesn't like it. Thank you Hazel for my avatar I love it.  I wish Brodie looked like that. Can we put photos on this site if so how?  Sally it was so cold in the van this year that we decided to close down late September.  Gordon had booked our flu jabs for early October so stayed for a few extra days.  Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the jab and went down with a flu type virus.  It wiped me out.  A chest and sinus infection soon followed.  Driving home wasn't an option so we reluctantly stayed. I slept under 4 duvets one of which was a 13.5 tog. Getting up in the wee small hours was freezing.  Splits were very good and plated me up a dinner each day.   We finally went home end of October.  The van was winterised early November so we will just be going down to check the van some time in December.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone. Its a damp day here today but not as bad as expected, unless its still on the way. Had a productive morning phoning and cancelling the car insurance - as simple as that - might be due a refund/might not. I was dreading that phone call but it took a couple of minutes. Phoned the doctors for a routine appointment for hubby but no appointments available unless with a different doctor so I'll phone in December and try again .Then printed out the form giving up the driving licence and that's completed ready to post. Was going to book a taxi to take us to short mat bowls but it would be too much a rush now so given that up and will have a relaxing afternoon.

Re: Good Morning

Power went off at 10.05. Three parcels are  being delivered this afternoon so got to stay home in the cold,   Can't even make a hot drink.

Just had a brilliant thought the old gas fire - haven't used it for quite a few years.   Didn't expect it to work but it lit first time. What a lovely sight the flames are. Brodie is happy and so am I. It's burning the dust off and stinks a bit.

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon everyone, damp here as usual.

Just back from Asda in St Austell. I had to return one of the 2 pairs of glasses I picked up last week. When I put them on they looked completely different to the ones I'd chosen. Traffic was horrendous, traffic lights for roadworks everywhere on the way. So came back a different way to avoid them. Turns out the frames I'd chose are the frames I received BUT the ones I tried on in the store didn't have a thin gold band around the inside and outside of the lens. When I tried them on they had no lens in and obviously the shiney gold strips must be to hold the lens in. They also make the frames a lot heavier. I'm not happy.

The woman said she couldn't understand why the ones I chose are the ones that were ordered, and the ones that arrived are all the same number. I explained about the gold strips not being in the frames when I tried othem on. But I could see she didnt understand what I was on about. So she's leaving a note for the woman that originally ordered the glasses and said if that woman remembers there were no lens in the frames when I chose them then they will refund the money, but if she doesn't they will then have to speak to the manager and depending on what he/she says will result in a refund or I'm stuck with a pair of glasses I'll never wear. They worked out £60 for each of the two pairs of glasses. So £60 although cheap for a pair of glasses isn't cheap when you've got stuck with somehing you don't like, didn't choose because they were displayed with no lens and no gold shiney strips. I wont be happy if I'm stuck with them.

I picked out another pair of frames and left them with the woman in the hope that they will exchange them instead of a refund, which would be more acceptable.

Then I asked about the computer glasses I'd ordered and she looked up on the computer and then went to the display stand to find them. They're green frames with tortoiseshell arms. Anyway the number on the computer didn't tally with the number on the glasses, so now I'm wondering what frames will be arriivng with that order. What a fiasco.

So now I have to go back tomorrow at midday to see the girl who originally took the order for the distance glasses to sort that out and hopefully the computer glasses will have arrived and hopefully they'll be the ones I picked out.

Asda may be cheaper for glasses but it would be better if they didn't make so many cockups with the orders and frames.

Rant over bol

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

Starry I think by putting up the decorations it's a beautiful way of honouring your sister.

Blustery old day here but at least it's not raining, although we had some in the night.

Waiting on Asda delivering my shop, then have to nip into Asda St Austell about the glasses. I really do think they should exchange or refund them because when I tried those particular frames on, they had no lens in, so how was I to know with lens they'd have bright gold shiney bands around the edge front and back? Totally changes the look of the frames and also make them a lot heavier.  They said as they were the frames I chose they were the ones ordered and supplied so they don't think they can do anything about it, so its up to the manager. I feel a fight coming on.

Got my dodgy throat again, it's been playing up for about 14yrs, it started the year Pete died. Always the same tonsil. Its not sore its sharp stabbling pain and lasts weeks and sometimes months. I should have had them out in 2005 but couldnt risk going into hospital with Pete as he was, he was more agitated, violent and suicidal.  I suppose its just something I have to put up with now as I don't fancy having them out at my age. Antibiotics don't help at all I just have to wait for the tonsil to heal and get better on it's own. Which can be a long drawn out job.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon all. It's wild and windy here. I was due to go to hospital today to have my eyes checked.  Sadly I must have slept in the wrong position as I'm dizzy. The room keeps wobbling and swaying.  Had to postpone, will be seeing him in 2 weeks time. I'm bored off my trolly can't do anything. Brodie has been coughing a lot today I'm hoping it's nothing too serious.  I'll be taking him to the vet as soon as I'm safe to drive.  It's tea and bickie time for me I think and finish my book. Still got a lot of sorting out to do before I can think of Christmas. I will hopefully  put my tree up just before Christmas. Enjoy the rest of the day. Hazel good luck with glasses  I once made the mistake of going to ASDA . The eye test was poor to say the least no surprise when I couldn't see with them. The eye test was repeated much more thoroughly than the first one and they gave me new glasses.

Re: Good Morning

Hello everyone. An early start to catch the fast bus to have a back, neck and shoulder massage followed by a facial. The forecast was dire. So bad I thought about cancelling the appointment. But it was dry this morning, but cloudy and windy. I chose a small umbrella as the larger one wouldn't have stood up to the wind. But I got to the bus dry. Then the sun came out and it was quite warm. It stayed dry all day although coming home I thought I would get caught in a shower, but it never happened. I had a new girl and although I asked for firm pressure, it was very painful to the point that I thought I would moan. At least I had a relaxing facial to follow and hope she's got rid of some knots in my back. I grabbed a few things while I was in Truro and just caught the bus back with no time to grab a bit to eat or drink.

Hope you get your glasses sorted Hazel

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.  Its a dampish day here today. We've got the cleaners coming this afternoon , followed by a shopping delivery from Sainsburys. Its my first one and done quite haphazardly. Not sure if it will cover what I want. Time will tell. Every time I settled to check it, something happened to stop me.  Then its craft club tonight at WI but don't think I will get a lift.
