Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone.

I got my glasses sorted out at Asda yesterday and they've ordered another different pair of frames (my choice). They admitted without lens in the frames would look different and that whoever took the lens out of the display frames should have put them back in. They said sometimes there are sunglass lens in them and people like to see what they're like without dark lens in. So their mistake really. I'm just grateful they are exchanging them. My other glasses had arrived when I got there, my computer ones and another pair of distance ones. They are super. A different shape to what I usually have, more cats eye shape and oversized lens. The lens are wafer thin, because the frames are quite thin but they've made a great job of them, I'm over the moon.

Carol I think it must depend on which branch of Asda you go to regards service received. I can't complain about St Austell's optical department they're very helpful and resolved my problem without quibbling.

I'm off to see the doctor at 2.50pm today. My ulcerated tonsil has flared up again it does this once or twice a year and has been doing so since 2005. So it's nothing serious or I'd have been dead long ago. But it's quite painful (not sore), so thought I better let the doc to see it and perhaps give me something to help it clear up. Although antibiotics don't seem to have any effect on it. So not sure what he'll prescribe if anything. I definately don't want to go for another examination at the hospital where they put the camera up your nose and down your throat and I'm too old now to have my tonsils out, it's very painful when you're older and the older you get the more painful it gets. I'd rather put up with the discomfort of the ulcers when they kick off.  Plus living on my own and no friends nearby or relatives, I dread having to go into hospital for anything because of the pets, and also coming out and being at home on my own after. So far I've avoided it.

Horrid wet and windy day here today.

Re: Good Morning

Good evening all.    It was an early start for me to day had to pick Gordon up.  A 10 minute drive took me 35 minutes town was grid locked. We went to lunch club. The entertainment was excellent two singers with a wide range.  I won a prize in the raffle. We had roast beef with all the trimmings followed by apple sponge and custard. I dropped Gordon off  at his flat as he had some work to do.  I went home fed Brodie and intended putting some washing on, however I nodded off.  I was woken up by a phone call. Gordon had sat in his chair and nodded off also. Neither of us did any work. Oh well there's always tomorrow. I'm going to have an early night.

Re: Good Morning

Hello everyone. Had an early start today to get out to catch the mini bus organised by the afternoon WI to go ten pin bowling and have a Christmas Lunch with hubby. Trying to get him organised was a hard slog, but go there, vowing to go on my own another time and leave him here!!  We had a good game and a lovely first Christmas lunch of the season. I didn't realise but there was a cup for the highest lady and the highest gentleman ... and I won the lady's cup. Not sure how on earth that happened but I've got it!! The weather stayed dry until we came home when it was spitting, but not enough to get soaked.

Glad you got your glasses sorted Hazel. Hope the doc sorted out your throat as well.

Re: Good Morning

Evening all. Had a busy day today had to go to Southampton, traffic was nightmare, bumper to bumper. Speed traps everywhere. Vowed never to go back. If I'd known the place we were going  was near Romsy I would have gone a different way. Going home we were following the road signs when our destination disappeared off the sign posts. We saw a sign for Winchester, took it and found ourselves on the M3. Fortunately I managed to get off the M3 and then it was cross country. We eventually got back to our area and to celebrate had a delicious cream team.  Gordon came home with me as I'd managed to get a desert bowl stuck in a glass dish and couldn't free it.  He tried everything finally giving up, where upon the glass dish split into two and smashed - glass everywhere. His face was a picture - if only I'd had a camera. It took ages to pick up all the glass.

Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all. A cold and frosty morning Brrr. Winter is here. Going to look out my thermals and see if I can still get into them - not very confident!   It's a fish and chip lunch today and I've made a naughty trifle. Think it will be a giggly afternoon - no drivers so all OK.
 Have a good day all.

Re: Good Morning

Hello everyone. Its been dry all day today. I had the hairdresser earlier and was wondering whether I could make it walking or would need a taxi because of rain. But I walked in the end with hubby. He's been in a snappy mood all day today and I wished I'd gone on my own and had a bit of space.  So when I got back I had lunch then have been upstairs loosing myself in crochet and pretending to count whenever he comes near!

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone, vrey dark here. I've been awake since 6 and it was pitch black out then. It was supposed to be a good day today and sunny. George will be coming over one day either at the w/e or early next week to help me put up the wires for my winter flowering evergreen clematis plants. I had one where I used to live before here and it was so cheery in the winter to see the pretty white flowers with red speckles on, and something with lots of leaves on. Although I do have quite a few evergreens, bamboos and the tree fern amongst others.

I'll be making more stock for next Saturdays craft fair. My 'friend' in St Austell has let me down yet again. She left me a private message on Twitter last night to say she won't be attending as her husband only gets one and a half days off at the w'ends and thinks its better if they spend the time together. This was the excuse last time. We were a table down as one was broken earlier in the summer and she was going to bring her own table, so at least there won't be an empty table stood there, which looks awful, just a space. And thankfully she was next to the doorway so it won't be quite so obvious. I could advertise the space but wont bother. It's too late now really as most people are all booked up anyway.

This means I will have to put all the tables up and around the hall, 25 of them as well as put all the signs up outside all by myself. Then set my own stall up. By the time i get to do my stall everyone else has finished setting up and I'm all hot and bothered and rushing. She's really let me down again.

I've not put my decorations up, I think I'll probably just get my little fibre optic xmas tree out and decorate that nearer Christmas. To be honest it's just another day to me really.

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon all. It's been a cold chilly day here.  Haven't felt like doing much so apart from a few chores I've been taking it easy.  Hopefully I'll be feeling more like working tomorrow. I'm not poorly, just not in the mood. I did sort out the car and got very cold.  Gordon will keep moving my things nothing important only de -icers and scapers! I delved under the seats and found a cushion, two empty sunglass driving boxes  a couple of carrier bags and the gadget for removing the wheel nuts . Apparently you can't change a tyre without it! As I said nothing important.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone, it's a bit nippy but not really cold, and the sun is beaming down.

Yes Starry that 'friend' is no friend really, she's very unreliable and had the cheek last night to send a message asking me which other craft fairs I'd recommend for her to go to. Pffft.....

Today I'll be finishing off my pocket teddies. I've made 18 so far, and just got a couple more colours to make, so there's a nice selection. Then I'll get cracking on the orders, 3 fur fairies and 2 christmas angels.

No sign of the neighbour, the Housing Assoc are building a case to evict her but have said it will take months to go through the courts. She's only lived there 2 days since October 2018, she came one day and left the next. My place would be easier to keep warm if someone lived there, but it's like having an empty garage next to me.

I'm making a mushroom strogonoff today for lunch. I've made a few over the last month. I just replace the steak with mushrooms. It's really tasty and more healthy.

Enjoy your trip to Wiltshire Starry, it's a pretty county.

Enjoy your Sunday folks. x
