Good morning everyone.
Its damp and cloudy here although it doesn't seem to be raining at the moment.
Not sure whether we'll get out for a walk or not. If we don't, I plan to make some Saffron Buns.
After our walk yesterday it was nice enough to sit in the garden and we stayed there all afternoon until it clouded over and pushed us indoors.

Good morning ladies, glad to see you're all keeping busy.
Well aftera miserable wet day yesterday its a lot brightertoday so I will be going outside and planting up my strawberry planter as the strawberries all arrived on Saturday, all 30 of them. It means I'll have to break into my stash of compost, I've got 15 bags LOL I'll use some of the sand I had delivered (in a bag) which is for the worms really, but it will help with the drainage for the strawberries. I bought a big heavy duty round wooden pot trolley to stand the planter on, on Amazon (I think they should put me on the board of directors since I've spent so much money with them) so I can move them around and they all get some sunshine. Also got some lettuces need plant out as they're getting quite large now.
My friend in Scotland passed away Saturday morning at 11.20am. Her hubby phoned me about half an hour afterwards. She'd been getting weaker and weaker for about a month, she wasn't and hadn't been in any pain which was a good thing, she just slipped away in her sleep but he was there holding her hand and she knew he was there. Poor chap. He'll be at a loss now as he did everything for her the last few years and moreso the last few months. He has a mother still alive and almost 90, but she lives in the Highlands, and I think his brother lives there too but not with their mother. The funeral will be dreadful as most aren't allowed to have many mourners, only direct family due to the virus.
I rang him last night and he seemed quite cheerful considering, I didnt speak about Heather much but talked more about his books he's reading and his flight simulation games he enjoys. I'll phone again maybe this evening or tomorrow. I expect he'll be busy today organising things.
Diane I love saffron buns but my overall favourite is Lardy Cake. That's a must to make! I can see we'll all be on My 600lb Life after lockdown!
Here's a simple recipe for Lardy Cake and the doughs made in a bread machine which makes life easier. I've made this a few times and it's really nice.

Good morning everyone.
Its brighter here today.
I've got my bathroom scales being delivered today and having a Zoom Slimming World Class. I've got to get back into not having these naughty treats. Can't do this all the way through lockdown. Then we'll fIt a walk in round that.
The builders have started back in the field over the road. Looks like it did normally with full compliment working. Having said that, they've stopped. Its tea time!!
Sorry about your friend Hazel.
Someone else had mentioned lardy cake and I thought, good now I've got a recipe to try it .. but haven't got a bread maker. I did peep at the recipe and its heavy heavy on the fat.

I've put the normal Lardy Cake recipe in our recipe section on here Diane, it doesn't use the breadmaker, the breadmaker really is only to make the dough in that first link I posted in this thread.

Good morning everyone. I think its been raining steadily through the night. Its very wet, windy and grey. Not sure if its actually raining now. Need to stick my arm out of the window. I'll get some washing on and get weighed in my nightie for the official first virus weigh in .
Definitely an essential journey Starry. Hope your daughter feels better quickly. Not the time to be feeling poorly that's for sure.

Good Morning all, the local forecast was for rain, torrential at times. It's dry and cold here with a little bit of watery sunshine. I've had my thick winter dressing gown on something I use down the caravan in the autumn. Sally did my shopping yesterday, we gave it a thorough wipe over with bleach. I also wiped all the veg over. Gordon collects the post from the box and we spray, wipe or quarantine it for 6 days. We're doing all we can to stay healthy. I know most people accept that the self-isolation is necessary. Such a shame that the media don't. I'm sure if they lift the quarantine we will face a second wave of infection possibly a lot worse than we've had so far. Because it's a virus there is currently no treatment the NHS can offer, only oxygen and basic care. The rest is down to the patients immune system. That is why us oldies have to isolate. I'm prepared to sit it out as long as it takes, rather that or lose a friend or family member. I'm very sorry to hear that Heather died Hazel. She put up a good fight and did very well to last as long as she did.

Thanks Carol, she was in no pain and just ended up sleeping most days, so she was lucky in that respect. I wish my next door neighbours son took the lockdown seriously, he's out every evening now. To begin with he was out all day every day, then changed it to midday to 7pm, and now its 7pm to 11pm. He visits his mates and has drinks with them and meals. I've been tempted to report him, but I have to live next door to them so I'm in a difficult situation. His mother's as much to blame, she is self isolating but thats a waste of time if he's swanning about all over the county. They'll be outside Thursday again clapping the NHS. Pfft.. Makes my blood boil.
