Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all, it's wet, windy and cold here. Not been in for a few days, we went down to the caravan and collected the clothes we both needed. Couldn't believe how high the grass and weeds had grown. Most of my pot plants were dead The garden still wasn't secure as the new caravan to the side of us is yet to be boarded. The garden was littered with bits of plastic and lengths of plastic piping.  All our moisture traps had been thrown away despite some of then being refillable. Inside the caravan had come through the winter well. I couldn't believe how clean and dust-free it was. It was bitterly cold and we had to put the heating on and make ourselves a hot drink. We weren't there long, far too cold for us.  The holiday village is opening today  I don't envy them one bit. It would have to be a lot warmer before we go down to stay. When we got home I'd had an email from Nick to say that they would be clearing our plot and cutting the grass yesterday. The orange netting would also be removed and the garden made secure.
Have a good day all and stay safe.

Re: Good Morning

Good morning everyone. Blustery grey day here, was same yesterday with showers inbetween. The roads are busy here, and someone on the local radio said they counted 79 caravans between Roche and Truro, which is a 20 minute drive. And a lorry driver phoned in to say the A30 was busy with loads of tourists with cars packed to the gunnels with surfboards, cases, bikes etc. Yet on the tv it was played down and we were told it wasn't as busy as they thought it would be. A friend who lives down west said her village was heaving with them and they weren't following the guidelines for social distancing, she said last night they went for a walk on the beach as usual with their dog and it was full of litter and there were large groups of young people having BBQ's, in that weather!!!! A lot of drunks too. Second wave won't be long arriving I fear.
Enjoy your day ladies.

Hello everyone

Its a bright windy day here today

Paul brought Maya and Lola over and she's had her birthday presents and some cake and then its off back to Mummy. At least we've seen them for a bit which was lovely.

I've just tidied up and we are going out for a walk now before lunch.

Re: Good Morning

Good afternoon all,  I did too much yesterday and am paying the price today. My shopper was delivering my groceries and I had to wash up last night's dishes. I've just finished bleaching my order and it's drying off before Gordon puts it away. He's just about to do lunch neither of us are that hungry as we're both in too much pain. So it's biscuits and cheese and coffee. Hopefully, we'll find a film to watch this afternoon. Have a good day all and stay safe.

Re: Good Morning

Afternoon all, it's really hot here today, there's a strong breeze to help cool it down a bit thank goodness. I had to strim and mow the 1ft wide strip around the lawn today as the weather's changing tomorrow, and it's worn me out! Face like a beetroot after. lol
I actually have time today to catch up, after 3 loads of laundry yesterday I ahd to get 3 masks done and posted this morning so they arrive tomorrow, so today I can have a break from sewing.
I started off my Hotbin composter at long last. I bought the Hotbin Mini thinking it would be ample for me, but I wish I'd gone for the mid size one now. I'm not sure whether to get another mini, or get the midi, probably the midi.  I wondered if I'd have enough to fill it as I save all the kitchen waste for the wormery but its worked out the worms are happy with about 2L of scraps a week so the rest needs to go in the Hotbin. Cardboard, shredded paper, dog poop, weeds, leaves etc. and the lawn edge clippings.  Half an hour after loading the Hot bin it reached 80°C already, so I'm pleased its working well. The compost will be ready in about 2 months maybe a bit less. I can bag it all up then and save it for next year as I saved all my empty compost bags from this year. Hopefully I won't spend a fortune next year on compost.

I had a visitor to the garden yesterday, a sparrow hawk on the lawn plucking a poor little blue tit. I chased it away but it took the bluetit with it, it was dead anyway. The birds have been keeping a low profile today bless them.

Enjoy your day ladies, keep safe.

Re: Good Morning

Evening all.  Sally, I know the feeling I took two bags down to the van to take to the cat and rabbit in the village. I rang six shops in my area and they are already too full.  It's very liberating when you look at the space you've made. We've not been able to do much Gordon has got arthritis in his neck and upper back and has been forced to take tramadol. My problems with my knees hasn't eased. I've started doing knee exercises to strengthen the muscles to give the joint more support. Time will tell. How are you and Paul?

Re: Good Morning

Afternoon all.  Starry hope you got you jab at a convenient time and managed to get some gardening time in. We had a nice sunny start this morning with a slight breeze as the day progressed the sun disappeared and we now got a blustery cloudy afternoon, not at all the day forecast. Not got a lot done Gordon has had a TV day. I've done a few chores and will if I can be bothered to stir my stumps put a pile of clean clothes away. I'm having a TV night whilst Gordon will either sleep or play computer games.  What a boring life we lead these days. Next week is going to be hot so we won't be going down the caravan. It's not my idea of fun being in a traffic jam as people all rush to pack the beaches.  We've got to do at least one trip to make up beds and wash the crockery and cutlery and get the freezer and fridge on. Then it will be ready for us to go down when we wish. Since we can't have food deliveries on site we will be bringing food with us.  I'm getting a few bits every week when my shopping is done. We will not be going down to the village at all this year. We're continuing to socially isolate.

Re: Good Morning

Hello everyone.

Its been a lovely day here so we (I !!) decided to take a trip on the bus. So we went on the fast bus to Truro which is now hourly and changed its route. So it was a real exciting journey. As I'd missed tomatoes off my shopping list I was debating whether to go into the indoor market or not ... and did and bought the tomatoes ... the first thing I've bought really since February.  Then I decided to nip into M & S to see if they had any gin glasses I was fancying and they did ... so bought those too.  TWO real items ... such excitement ...  but then left hubby's coat on the bus!

Re: Good Morning

Good Morning all, a beautiful day here to enjoy. I was standing at the sink washing up when the sky turned black. There were several hundred birds of all shapes and sizes flying high. It was like synchronised flying as they swirled around. I've never seen anything like it before. They were probably chasing insects. I watched them for 10 minutes or so before they flew off. It was a beautiful sight and made my day!
now.
